Authors Privacy Notice
- This document applies to research authors of output which has been analysed and displayed within the AIDA Dashboard; and sets out what we do with your personal data when we download new data from OpenAlex (from OurResearch).
- The Open University is the data controller in relation to the processing activities described below. This means that the Open University decides why and how your personal information is processed.
- Where this document refers to “we”, “our” or “us” below, unless it mentions otherwise, it’s referring to the Open University
- When we download the updated version of the scholarly papers catalog, it includes the names of authors and contributors as well as the title of the output and other metadata.
- We compute analytics and make them available on the AIDA Dashboard as part of the OU’s public task of promotion of and improvement of access to academic research.
- All data is stored in the UK and no data is transferred outside the UK.
- We keep outputs in perpetuity unless we are asked to remove content.
- You have a number of rights in relation to your personal information, which
apply in certain circumstances. In order to exercise any of these rights,

- When you browse the AIDA Dashboard, we automatically collect your IP address and the visited page.
- Every 12 months, we appraise the usage of the AIDA Dashboard. We compute performance metrics based on the users’ geographical location and pages visited.
- All data is stored in the UK and no information is transferred outside the UK.
- Every 12 months, following the appraisal, we delete the previously collected information.
