Authors Privacy Notice

  1. This document applies to research authors of output which has been analysed and displayed within the AIDA Dashboard; and sets out what we do with your personal data when we download new data from OpenAlex (from OurResearch).

  2. The Open University is the data controller in relation to the processing activities described below. This means that the Open University decides why and how your personal information is processed.

  3. Where this document refers to “we”, “our” or “us” below, unless it mentions otherwise, it’s referring to the Open University

  4. When we download the updated version of the scholarly papers catalog, it includes the names of authors and contributors as well as the title of the output and other metadata.

  5. We compute analytics and make them available on the AIDA Dashboard as part of the OU’s public task of promotion of and improvement of access to academic research.

  6. All data is stored in the UK and no data is transferred outside the UK.

  7. We keep outputs in perpetuity unless we are asked to remove content.

  8. You have a number of rights in relation to your personal information, which apply in certain circumstances. In order to exercise any of these rights, please contact us at data-protection@open.ac.uk.

    The most straightforward way to fulfil these rights is for you to request the output to be removed or updated within the originating repository that the data was downloaded from: OpenAlex.

Users Privacy Notice

  1. This document applies to the users browsing the content provided by the AIDA Dashboard; and sets out what we do with your personal data when you navigate through the content.

  2. The Open University is the data controller in relation to the processing activities described below. This means that the Open University decides why and how your personal information is processed.

  3. Where this document refers to “we”, “our” or “us” below, unless it mentions otherwise, it’s referring to the Open University.

  4. When you browse the AIDA Dashboard, we automatically collect your IP address and the visited page.

  5. Every 12 months, we appraise the usage of the AIDA Dashboard. We compute performance metrics based on the users’ geographical location and pages visited.

  6. All data is stored in the UK and no information is transferred outside the UK.

  7. Every 12 months, following the appraisal, we delete the previously collected information.

  8. You have a number of rights in relation to your personal information, which apply in certain circumstances. In order to exercise any of these rights, please contact us at data-protection@open.ac.uk.
