Abstract

DMO-core has been developped in the context of Semantics4FAIR project (https://www.irit.fr/semantics4fair/) that aims at improving the FAIRness degree of domain datasets. The project takes as a use case meteorological datasets. It is a (FAIR) core semantic model for representing different kinds of metadata for describing any kind of multidimensional tabular datasets, both at descriptive and structural levels. This model corresponds to the version 2.0.0 of the DMO model 1.0.0

Introduction back to ToC

This is a place holder text for the introduction. The introduction should briefly describe the ontology, its motivation, state of the art and goals.

Core Dataset Metadata Ontology (DMO-Core): Description back to ToC

This is a placeholder text for the description of your ontology. The description should include an explanation and a diagram explaining how the classes are related, examples of usage, etc.

Cross reference for Core Dataset Metadata Ontology (DMO-Core) classes, properties and dataproperties back to ToC

This section provides details for each class and property defined by Core Dataset Metadata Ontology (DMO-Core).

Classes

Datasetc back to ToC or Class ToC

IRI: https://w3id.org/dmoc#Dataset

A dmoc:Dataset is both a dcat:Dataset and a qb:Dataset, which allows a dataset to be described in terms of global metadata and structure respectively.
has super-classes
data set, dataset c
has sub-classes
Slice c
is in domain of
requires op
is in range of
requires op

Slicec back to ToC or Class ToC

IRI: https://w3id.org/dmoc#Slice

We also consider that a slice (a subset of a dataset) is a dataset, and can thus benefit from all properties of a dmoc:Dataset. This is why we introduce the dmoc:Slice concept.
has super-classes
Dataset c, dataset c, slice

TabularDistributionc back to ToC or Class ToC

IRI: https://w3id.org/dmoc#TabularDistribution

The concept dmoc:TabularDistribution is a specification of the dcat:Distribution to be able to describe tabular data. It is linked to a table csvw:Table or to a group of tables csvw:TableGroup with the dmoc:isDescribedBy property.
has super-classes
distribution c
is in domain of
isDescribedBy op

Object Properties

isDescribedByop back to ToC or Object Property ToC

IRI: https://w3id.org/dmoc#isDescribedBy

The concept dmoc:TabularDistribution is a specification of the dcat:Distribution to be able to describe tabular data. It is linked to a table csvw:Table or to a group of tables csvw:TableGroup with the dmoc:isDescribedBy property.
has domain
TabularDistribution c
has range
table c or table group c

referencesop back to ToC or Object Property ToC

IRI: https://w3id.org/dmoc#references

In orde to make the relationship between structural components (i.e., columns) and data schema components (i.e., measures and dimensions) explicit, we introduce the dmoc:references property between a csvw:Column and a qb:ComponentProperty.
has domain
column c
has range
component property

requiresop back to ToC or Object Property ToC

IRI: https://w3id.org/dmoc#requires

The dmoc:requires property aims to represent the dependency between datasets.
